Jaeger Lecoultre SIHH 2015: Master Compressor Extrem Lab II.
Mar 04, 2015,00:11 AM
We tend to forget that the Extrem Lab II belongs to the Master Compressor Line.
Maybe because the Master Compressor line was no fed with novelties for years, now?
Maybe bacause the name Master Compressor, which was first written on the prototype bezel, disappeared with the definitive Watch, to be just mentionned on the case back?
Anyway, this year, JLC released a slightly modified Extrem Lab II.
The Prototype, unveiled in 2010:
The definitve model:
I wrote slightly because only two détails changed... The smooth bezel, and the accents on the dial, which are not red anymore, but blue.
The bezel is made of black Zirconium Ceramic, as well as the crown.
The Extrem Lab II is, should he have to remind it, a very technical watch. The crown is, in fact, a pusher, which is used for:
- Setting the time zone and the date ( one push )
- Setting the time ( second push ).
You also have a circular power reserve indicator between 9 and 3 o clock, and, last but not least, a chronograph with instantaneous digital jumping minutes, located just below 12 o clock.
The TiVan case- a blend of Titanium and Vanadium- is big with a diameter of 46, 8 mm and 16, 6 mm high. But in the real, it looks smaller than it is on the paper.
The open dial is modern looking, as well as the Cal 780 visible through the sapphire case back. Let's keep in mind that this movement is made of 569 parts, 70 jewels, offers an autonomy of 60 hours, and beats at 28 800 alternances per hour.
I quite prefer the smooth bezel of this evolution, I must. As for the Red or the Blue accents, it is a matter of taste.
A cool watch, that is for sure.
Here some live pictures.
A view on the case side, as even the case is technical:
And the back side, now, with its quite pleasant movement.
A last picture...
It doesn't look like this Watch was unveiled some 6 years ago.
I will come back to the former dial later, but it seemed to me that it was time to show and share some pictures and words about that last version.
Best,
Nicolas
