Jaeger Lecoultre Black Memovoxes: TT DSA Europe / Memovox Cal 914.

Feb 27, 2015,00:05 AM

Ok, one is automatic, one is manual...

One is a diving Watch, the other is not.

One is 40, 5 mm big, the other is 36 mm " only ".

But, but... Theres is an undisputable " air de famille " between these two.

And not only because they both have a black dial. Look at the shape of the indexes, for example.

I wonder if JLC didn't have the original Deep Sea Alarm ( 1959 ) in mind when they released, 40 years later, the Black Manual Memovox.

Both the TT DSA Europe and the Memovox Cal 914 play the card of elegance. With a touch of strenght.

Pure JLC DNA!

Best,

Nicolas

MM is a Heavy-Hitter

Much has been said about the DSA and the TT DSA, so I'm very pleased to see the rarely mentioned (but well-loved) Master Memovox black this morning! I doubt there are many 36mm watches that can rival this one for sheer power and visual impact. The ratio o...

I photographed it with my heart, Tim. ;)

This is a Watch I am still hunting. But I want a warm one, with a nice patina of the dots. A bit like the Reverso Gran Sport Chrono, which is another target of mine. I will post something about this Master Memo. Best, and thanks for your feedback, Tim. Ni...

Lovely duo

The DSA speaks a little louder to me though. Love these shots!

That and the ruggedness

 By: rnaden : February 27th, 2015-08:26
I'm more casual most of the time, and the DSA to me, is something I can see myself with all the time. No disrespect to the dressier piece, as both are great...but if I had to pick one, it would be the DSA

What a great combo!

Indeed, both watches exert certain air of quite yet powerful presence. There is something beautifully aristocratic about these timepieces. My JLC Memovox TT DSA sends its greetings ...

There is an evident kinship between the two

They are indeed brothers of sorts--not just because they emanate from JLC, but most notably because they embody a quintessential JLC complication--the alarm--and share similar aesthetics even though one is more of a casual piece. JLC should reissue the bl...

Black Memovox WITHOUT date... May JLC hear you, John...

 By: amanico : February 27th, 2015-09:16
But they will tell you that the TT DSAs already play this card... Best, Nicolas

Yes, but TT DSA is maybe a bit too sporty IMO

 By: vitalsigns : February 27th, 2015-10:11
We still need a black dial no-date Memovox which would be the perfect But if JLC insists on the date, let them please use a black date wheel so it will be as unintrusive as possible Cheers, John

The TT DSA US certainly is. The Europe is maybe less sporty.

Quite discrete, too. I still hope they will give us a black Memo no date... JLC, please, pretty please... Best, Nicolas

Yes, very nice combo !

Very cool, I should add a TTDSA to this memovox ;).

Master Black Memovox, especially because of the exhibition back and the gong welded to the crystal! Do you remember that the 18kt rose version of this watch was "only" US $8,700, in 2002? -Dean

The gong welded to the crystal... Which dorve JLC to the Master Minute Repeater solution.

Yes, I do remember very well... Still don't get why I didn't get one... Best, Dean. Nicolas

Hi Here's the back of mine - posted it on wristscan this week. Not included the dial as Amanico has captured it perfectly. Have to say dark strap does seem to suit it really well - though I still have a soft spot for the ostrich straps that were a lot mor...

I will post something about this Memovox. Interesting movement,

Whose rotor has been removed... Indeed, Cal 914 is a Cal 918 without its automatic parts. Best, and thanks for this nice shot! Nicolas
