Some unusual Jaeger Lecoultre Master Minute Repeaters.

Nov 03, 2014,13:28 PM

I asked the Manufacture to send me some docs about MMR we don't often see.

Here are a few.

1/ For Carlson. Not precised how many were made, but we can reasonnably guess a few...

2/ For Japan: 5 pièces.

3/ Jewelled, limited to 50 pièces:

4/ " Les Bijoux " USA: 15 pièces:

5/ Boutique Edition, Black Dial, platinum case: No precision on the production number, but, here again, I guess a few!

6/ White Gold case, Boutique Edition, 30 pièces:

7/ Titanium DLC, 5 pièces:

8/ For Sincere, Platinum open dial, 8 pièces:

9/ MMR Enamel Grand Feu, limited to 50 pièces:

And I didn't even include the MMR " Venus series ), the jewelled versions, the 175th anniversary model ( limited to 175 pièces ) or the first ones, the platinum ' Antoine Lecoultre ( 200 pièces ) or my MMR Titanium ( 200 pièces, again ).

Did I miss some? Certainly, and I would be very interested in seeing those I ignore...

I am curious to hear what you are thinking about this " diversity ". Too much, or good?

Best,

Nicolas

Too much diversity, don't agree for such a fine piece

 By: Fricks : November 3rd, 2014-13:56
if it was a 20k piece, a chronograph or some simple model, i can accept that they toy around with them. But in this case, especially when you pay so much, they should "melt" the power of such piece with so many variant, even if they are being made in smal...

Aaah, I was sure someone would notice the black and orange one. ;)

I feel the best would have been to release one version in each metal ( Ti, Pt, WG, RG ), and one Enamel.... And NO limited editions at all. And each one with its own dial. Yes, the one you mentionned was the LE of 8 pièces for Sincere. ;) All this doesn't...

I'm at Peace with the many Pieces

I'll be the devil's advocate. Since the absolute production figures are *so* low, the large number of variations does little to dilute the appeal of the MMR. Consider that a piece unique is viewed as the ultimate in haute horlogerie prestige, and then con...

But with so many versions of the same watch, don't you think....

 By: amanico : November 3rd, 2014-23:35
JLC gives the feeling they are waving a bit in finding the right one? Not when they are totally different, but look at the Titanium version, then the LE platinum coming with the same dial than the Titanium, then the White gold with the same dial, with the...

Consider how challenging it is to find real images of the iterations...

... and it becomes apparent that even an ardent JLC collector could go a lifetime without seeing an MMR, and most who do encounter the model will see perhaps a handful of the A. LeCoultre and Ti variants. For our study of the subject, even the most prolif...

I've seen a few of them...

 By: amanico : November 4th, 2014-03:56
Actually, I think we are more around 800 pièces in 6 years. But you are correct, I never saw the Sincere Pt Edition in my life, nor the Black and orange one, which was made for Asia or Dubail, I can't remember... Some I totally ignored, too.... And maybe ...

The Black Dial Boutique Edition is Stunning

 By: Tim_M : November 4th, 2014-08:49
That black dial boutique model is drop-dead gorgeous. I enjoy several of these variations, but versions like the Boutique LE make me glad that JLC decided to experiment. As I recall, the original A. LeCoultre in platinum was a polarizing design, and the T...

Funny thoughts....

I fell in love with he MMR in 2005, with the A Lecoutlre version, the platinum, to be precise... I was amazed, delighted but such a daring offer, an audacious interpretation of a noble complication. But this was nothing in comparison of the Ti MMR...I was...

+1 with Tim_M.. As those are beyond any ceiling, a Q for happy few ! :)

.. was interesting however, How many Limited Editions there were for the variants. Personally I'm a true fan for your Antoine LC in Titanium ! IMO, it has it all : Conceptual design, light weight, looks AND the open dial, giving visual depth ; - which Is ...

The Antoine Lecoultre was the first one, in platinum, released in 2005.

The difference, other than the dial and the metal of the case, was that the Antoine Lecoultre beared A/ Lecoultre Signature on the movement. You see, with so many itérations, we loose track! ;) Thanks for your feedback, my dear friend. Nicolas

tx for the enlightenment .. Anyway. I love yours !.. Somehow.. ;)

.. also to me, is it " Piece Unique" for really very, very few vs Iterating , that the " Want-to-Haves ", happy ones loose track - exactly as you described !.. With the only exception of the - also few - Cognoscenti, who will remember. -- Interesting, tho...

Nices pieces ! Could you please explain ...

... how it works exactly? Visually, I understand the power reserve, but what is the torque? Thanks for your enlightments, All the best, Etienne

The Torquemeter is made to measure....

 By: amanico : November 4th, 2014-03:42
The regularity of the work of the movement... This movement has a 15 days power reserve. So, if during this long autonomy, the torque goes too low, you give the crown one Wind or two, and it will be ok. Best, Nicolas

Thanks Nicolas! ...

... and regarding the repeater: can you choose between off, on for minutes, on for 1/2 hours and on for hours? How does the sound compare to Memovox?

You push the trigger on the left side of the case.

 By: amanico : November 4th, 2014-05:51
And the Minute Repeater is activated. One ding for each hour. One ding dong for each quarter, and one dong per minute. As for the sound, it is much more elaborated than the Memovox... It is not the same Financial league, either... ;) Best, Nicolas
