A new view of a modest Vintage Memovox Quintet - my intentions for this week.

Oct 20, 2014,03:14 AM

.. Well, friends here !
- During the last weeks, I 've been busy, in exploring some new arrival ( the Geophysic '58),
and also looking into my recent ad-ons for my small, but growing Rolex collection, with
the lucky find of the marvellous samples ( Explorer 6610/ gilt,CR & my beloved 1675 ( gilt, CR,
PCG and exclam mark )

- and I'm really happy with the fulfillment of these wishes !

Enough of these intros : today I just wanted to share with you
some pics to illustrate my humble tic-tac plan for this running week..

Now, what to take, which family to choose from ?

As my several Vintage Memovoxes, did not have enough wrist-time recently
I decided to go for round Vintage MMV's this week

A box of Vintage Memovoxes - A nice group

From left to right :
Black MMV E855, E 855- "Ebene", E 875 Speedbeat / blue on white , E875 Speedbeat white, E 861

2 E 855 with a different dial, 2 E 875 with a different dial, and a Funky E 861. Among these 5, I have a soft spot for the E 855 Ebene. Your dial is flawless. Nice Quintett! Best, Nicolas

Thx, Nico !.. And have an add'l soft spot for the black 855.. My 1st MMV ever.. :)

.. and still recall the day ! - And you were part of her find ! :) - Also like the 875s, the blue/ white is cool versatility, I think.. And yes, the Ebene indeed is special, also the story which goes with her... The E861 also is a pretty cool funky lady, ...

Why only one Polaris?

Thanks, my dear friend. You forgot a few others...

Such as the 3072 and the Parking! ;) All the best, Nicolas

Touché, my friend ! .. These would have been for days 6&7.. But you're right..

 By: hs111 : October 20th, 2014-05:14

You can say that you own a very nice collection of Memovoxes, hs.

 By: amanico : October 20th, 2014-05:17
You also have the 871, if I am not wrong? And I didn't mention the moderns.... Yes, a strong collection of Memovoxes! Best, Nicolas.

Yess, Sir !.. You are perfectly right, 871 + 872 , both :))

 By: hs111 : October 20th, 2014-05:23
.. but thx also for many times of advice & encouragement , my friend ! One other, a snowdrop I'm still missing from the 60ies/70ies era !.. But thx again, for reminding me kindly !! Best, hs

And maybe one of the earlier period, from the 50ies?

 By: amanico : October 20th, 2014-05:25
You are not that far, my friend.... Bravo. Best, Nicolas

I'm afraid, for 50ies I'd might have to pass.. Otherwise - not sure now completely-..

 By: hs111 : October 20th, 2014-05:43
.. my Parking 3161 (with cal 814) should be from early 60ies (??) - - if wrong, pls correct me. I don't have one really early, I think Actually I miss some others, in addition: - the early 489 / manual - early 50ies - the Snowdrop ( as mentioned) - a blue...

Yes, your Parking may well be from the end of 50ies.

From 1958 and onwards.... But there are some pure marvels from the Fifties such as the 853 ( a E 855 wihtout date ) or even nicer, the E 858. A nice 851 is also interesting. So many choices.... Best, Nicolas

the blue blue

Quote hs111: " Actually I miss some others, in addition: - a blue/ blue 875 - I know, Clavi used to have 2(?) " Indeed, the blublu has always been / is always a favorite of mine. I sold 3 over the years, but inevitably when one crosses my path, I can't he...

WOW! And you were kind enough to not post the E 855 Blue Scale! ;)

Hi Great shot - love the watches. Always had a soft spot for blue dialed watches - but they look spectacular. 1 is great - but 4??? Wonderful- might inspire a search or two. Cheers JML

Agree with Nicolas....

Nice collection

 By: gautier : October 20th, 2014-04:42
That's a nice collection you have... Like Amanico, I love the Ebene version you have, but just because (and I'm wearing it today ;-) ) I already own the blue & gray dial version... :-) Cheers, Gautier

That is an excellent reason, Gautier. ;) The Ebene has really something special.

 By: amanico : October 20th, 2014-05:14
That is one of my big regrets, to not having taken the decision to jum on a specially well shaped one, when I could.... Enjoy yours! Best, Nicolas

Thank you for chipping in ! Yes, yours is a very nice sample.. Indeed..

 By: hs111 : October 21st, 2014-01:31
.. two casebacks are observed, both correct, AFAIK : one with the logo within a circled medaillion, the other one plain. - Either way, these blue on white 875s are really nice ! Thx again for sharing ! Best, hs

You are too modest my dear friend ;)

 By: hs111 : October 21st, 2014-01:42

An classic selection of automatic memovoxes

 By: Clavi : October 20th, 2014-05:50
These 5 are a nice selection among the modern-vintage memovoxes (855 and upwards). You nailed a few iconic ones (black dial 855 and 2 tone 875 are as good as it gets in these references). A bit of funkyness with the 861, and a touch of late 60's class wit...

Hello, Clavi ! .. Thank you kindly for these thoughtful comments & advice., Indeed ..

 By: hs111 : October 20th, 2014-06:04
.. as you perfectly have pointed out, - the next step could/should be either the more exotic dial colors ( actually am pretty long now hunting a blue-only ( or a turned brown one ) 875. Nothing yet - thus patience & looking .. Your other point is equally ...

very interesting line indeed

 By: karmin : October 20th, 2014-09:19
Well hs111, it seems that the range of your memovox collection is quite broad and impressive. I had, some time ago, envisaged to try and complete the 855 line, but a well known purist helped me realise that it was a rather endless project (or, at least, v...

Thx for your kind interest !.. Yes, I'm an almost steel-only person.. Just 1 RG/1 WG watches

 By: hs111 : October 20th, 2014-09:51
.. for me, both JLCs One Geomatic in RG, and one ultra-thin WG Ref 1901 - that's it ! - both for more formal and festive wearing Best, hs

Great lineup, dear HS! :)

To tell you the truth, there is an exact same quintet up in the north.... Have been filling some blanks here and there this year. This was one of them! :) Sorry, no group photo of my E 875. Best Blomman ...

Thank you, my friend! [nt]

By: blomman Mr Blue : October 20th, 2014-13:44

Wonderful news, my friend !.. So now it really is a " Paired journey".. Remember ?..

 By: hs111 : October 20th, 2014-23:10
.. when we had - together with beautiful chip-ins from Clavi, Stefan, Nico & some more - our Journey through the Funky Times of the 70ies, back in February this year ! Great, that you could fill some of your holes, with nice fillings ! I'm still having so...

Snowdrop... For your eyes. ;)

Hello Nico !.. What a nice surprise!.. Pretty cool in black !..Nice contrasting indices :)

 By: hs111 : October 20th, 2014-23:51

Aahhh .. Real Vintage beauties, the 851.. When looking on them..

 By: hs111 : October 21st, 2014-00:01
.. it is interesting, how similar they appear to the E 159 ?! Little Q: what Ref is on the Left of 2nd pic ? I can see only 1 crown .. All of them are pleasures for the eye ! Thx again & Best, hs

Yes, you got it. ;) [nt]
