Summer pictures and thoughts on the Lecoultre and Jaeger Lecoultre Polaris II Blue and Grey
Sep 22, 2014,00:52 AM
Before leaving Paris with these two watches, I wondered which one was my favourite and IF I had a favourite.
These summer holidays helped me a bit to make my mind on this topic.
I do have a preference, according to the circumstances.
When in Paris, I prefer the Grey, which is more versatile, maybe a bit more discrete, due to the color of its dial, which removes a bit of funkyness from this Watch which doesn't lack caracter.
But when I am on holidays, during the summer, and when I have to spend time at the sea, then the Blue becomes my favourite.
I wonder what will be my favourite once I will be able to put my hands on the Red!
The Blue is the only one, among the three dials, to have an alarm disc which matches with the dial, while the two others have a silver alarm disc.
And that blue, almost electric, or more poetically said, caribean sea, is really something! Not very discrete, for sure, but how appealing and cool!
Let's see these summer pictures I took. 5 for each of them.
I/ The Blue:
A real Sea Watch, in harmony with the blue of the sky and the sea.
In Ausonia, a small beach in Trieste:
In the Marina, now:
In such a colorful town like Trieste, the Blue is a feast on the wrist:
The now classic " Fisherman's friend " shot:
And what a better background than some pebbles?
Yes, the Blue is a Feast!
II/ The Grey plays a slightly different partition.
Ok, the case is the same, very funky and demonstrative, a strong character.
But the color of the dial changes a lot, in the overall perception of the watch.
The Grey works well in an urban decorum, no problems with that, or that would mean that you couldn't enjoy a black or grey dialed watch, which would be a total non sense.
It is just that it is less cool, less " crazy ", less " funky " than the Blue.
At the Sea, here in Croatia, same observation. A pleasant companion. Maybe more serious...
The " Fisherman's friend " shot doesn't help to make your mind...
So, I tried to find a more original background, to add some spice to the watch...
And some more appropriate stones, to match with the dial...
No, definitely, each of them has its own and many assets.
One thing which crossed my mind was to know if I wouldn't get tired of the Blue, after a while, so I put it quite often, this summer.
The answer is quite obvious. Not only I didn't get rid of it, but I want, more and more, the Red version to get the Trio.
Another thing I didn't mention, till now, is the Alarm function on the Polaris II. Not only a diving watch, but also a friendly one, ideal for your vacations.
The Polaris II is certainly not a watch you would first think about, but it is worth some serious consideration, at least one of the three.
Getting the three versions is reserved to the maddest of us...
Best,
Nicolas
