JLC Grande Reverso Tribute to 1948 - some macro shots to share

Aug 30, 2014,16:40 PM

I have not shared this watch for awhile. This lovely watch was the one I bought when Nicolas was inSingapore, in the JLC boutique.

Many of you know my love for its blued hands and indices. The watch seems to come to life and smile at you when the warm sunlight shines on the dial.

But there is another lovely aspect to this watch which is more of a detail and cannot be easily noticed with the naked eye. Macro lens can bring this to life.
It's the grainy white dial of the 1948 Reverso. It looks a bit like crumbled white paper. I love the look!

Also I noticed that the indices and minutes railway track looks raised under the loupe. A very 3D effect - quite different from the other applied indices and minute track I have seen before. Nicolas if you know more about this could you explain? I only described what I observed.

Some pics to share here for the weekend including a wristshot in the sun smile. Enjoy!

Cheers
Robin

And finally still my favorite look on this watch when the sun shines on it! smile

Thank you and glad you like the details too :) cheers robin

Sublime macros. The first which really give an idea of the texture of the dial.

The dial is stamped, my friend. You just made me realize that I have to post my review on this Watch. I didn't post it yet, because there were too many topics ( which is totally justified, by the way ) about this one. So, I postponed... And forgot. ;) For...

Thanks for the info on the dial Nico!

Very elegant watch

Hi Great shots - looks really elegant. But as you say it takes a closer look to fully appreciate the dial. The texture of the dial is great and a wonderful contrast to the crispness of the indexes. Cheers JML

Thank you JML

Glad you like the details of the dial. Agree on the contrast between the dial's texture vs the indices. Cheers robin

It is indeed pure elegance and refinement, a superb mix of Reverso DNA and modernity. In one word, it is classy. Many thanks Robin for these superb macro shots. Well done my friend! Best, Mike

Yes indeed.

I think it's because of the high contrast between the dial and the hands. The lack of AR coating doesn't help either.

The true color of the hands and indexes is hard to catch, as well.

I had tough times to try to take some good pictures. Will post them in my dedicated review, one day. Best, Nicolas

I LOVE your shots Domingo!

yes in general, the white metal, white dial and blued hands/indices made the watch "cooler" but to me, a Reverso always feel warm maybe due to the case/dial design too. Even without the macro shots, when the sunlight touches the dial, the blued hands and ...

a "parchment" dial. The raised indices and the minute track are gorgeous! -Dean

I really love the raised indices and minute track

That was one of the key reasons why I fell in love with this one, other than the blued hands/indices/tracks. Glad you like them too! :) cheers robin

Wonderful Shots!!

Hi, Congratulations on that beauty! I have a question, is the dial of the chocolate reverso also stamped? Meaning you can see the depth of the indices and the minute tracks on the brown dial? I'm getting more curious with these two models of the TT1931 Re...

Oh, I wonder why they didn't make it a standard feature? I thinks it would be a real stunner if it were stamped. I saw this both in real at JLC boutique Hong Kong and honestly am torn between the two. Need to see more wrist shots. Would you classify this ...

The 1948 can be considered as more casual than other TT Reverso

 By: domingo chavez : September 3rd, 2014-02:26
I've got an another Reverso, the chronograph retrograde , and my feeling is that the 1948 as more casual, specially with a blue or a brown strap. I think it's due to the size of the case (very long) and the very light dial that makes it look bigger than r...

I would consider the TT R 1948, as it is more casual.

 By: amanico : September 3rd, 2014-03:59
Still elegant. The TT DSA is also an excellent choice! Best, Nicolas

Thank you for the suggestions guys!

 By: Ots : September 4th, 2014-20:36
Guess I answered my own question. Since the 1948 is more casual, I needed a more formal watch based on my collection too. My question should've been "Can the chocolate be used as a casual watch too?" But with the dial color and Fagliano strap, I think it ...
