Asked Magali Metrailler to sketch my watch

Apr 13, 2008,03:29 AM

I interviewed the talented Magali Metrailler of JLC while in Geneva. While talking I asked her to redo her very first lines for the EWA Rossi. She took my note book and started drawing while talking about space, the alarm function and acoustics, discussions with the watch makers etc etc. Once signed by her, I felt like I had a piece of art in my note book. Sure worthy a gold frame and center position in my home!

I didn't think to ask her a sketch for my watches...And I regret it. Now you added something special to your already special watch, my friend. Best. Nicolas

So true, buddy! Now if only I could have her do sketches on my next two watches...

...the Polaris Paris Boutique and Reverso Squadra! I was really taken with the ceramic Squadra this year. Could do without the carbon dial, but I presume it will at some point arrive with a normal "flat" black dial.

Hey, Kristian, you're on the squadra Polo Fields, too?

Nice choice, my friend... I spent a lot of time with this watch in my hands to make my final decision on it, and I have to admit that this is a very intersting and lovely watch, too. But not designed by Magali...So, for the sketches, you'll have to see an...

AH! I had the impression that Magali also did the Squadra?

Not too crazy about the carbon dial, maybe I should opt for last years Squadra World Timer instead?

AFAIK, no

her sketch of the polaris ????

Well, I don't think she has anythig to do with the Polaris boutique design, so a signed sketch of the watch from her could be fun, but sort of irrelevant from a legitimity point of view IMHO

Agree, Clavi

Magal i is not in charge of the design of the Polaris Re Edtion... She was in charge of th design of the Amvox III, and also of the Gyro II, but not the Pola. Best. Nicolas

She was involved in the 1968 Polaris reedition version.

Told me she wasn't pleased with a few details and that she would have to change them.

well

Since the reedition is a reedition, I don't see how she could be credited with anything designwise in the 'new polaris'. She might have had to chose the panton reference for the luminova colour, but otherwise, I just don't see what her input could have be...

Clavi, as usual I agree with you 100% (nt)
