Jaeger Lecoultre SIHH 2015: Master Compressor Extrem Lab II.

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-00:11
We tend to forget that the Extrem Lab II belongs to the Master Compressor Line. Maybe because the Master Compressor line was no fed with novelties for years, now? Maybe bacause the name Master Compressor, which was first written on the prototype bezel, di...

One of JLC jewels

Still prefer the"red" version and still adore how when you turn round watch on back side you have "tonneau" shaped watch Winner in my book Thank you for live pictures Damjan

Thanks for your input, Damjan.

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-01:38
A cool Watch ,for sure. Funny, when I remember that I disliked it when I saw the first press files pics! But it was yeaaaars ago. Best, Nicolas

You hit the nail right on the head.

 By: BABKA : March 4th, 2015-17:38
That's what I love about the watch too.

Some pictures of my Extreme Lab II

 By: Seeks : March 4th, 2015-03:53
Thanks Nico, for your post on this WATCH. Attaching some photos from previous occasions: -- Lab 2 for the dark... -- Lab 2 for Chinese New Year.. -- Lab 2 for Christmas... -- Lab 2 in the studio... Hope you all are having a great week. Kind regards -- See...

I Love my Lab 2 with black Dial ...

so coool!!! [nt]

 By: gensiulia : March 4th, 2015-08:38

Love that wrist shot!! [nt]

 By: AnthonyTsai : March 4th, 2015-14:08

I actually just switched watches yesterday

 By: AnthonyTsai : March 4th, 2015-14:13
so I won't be able to post a new wrist shot for you today :( I was wearing my Extreme Lab 2 for almost 4 months straight, so need to give another watch some attention now :) Cheers, Anthony

For 4 months? Damn, it didn't happen to you that often to wear the same

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-14:15
Watch for such a long time, did it? So, what is your owner's feeling, after such a long time? Best, Nicolas

Yeah it's not often I wear a watch for that long

 By: AnthonyTsai : March 4th, 2015-14:18
My owner's feeling is pure and utterly happiness! This one ranks up there for me in terms of my all-time favorite watches I've owned, and I think it's going to surpass the AP Montoya Offshore rose gold on my list. I have no regrets at all with my Extremel...

Works much better in blue!

 By: proestak : March 4th, 2015-07:34
Why would somebody buy a RM when you can buy the Extreme Lab2 which is much better looking and with such a price difference. This watch show what JLC can do:fine watchmaking, breathtaking innovation and great value. It will be interesting to see what happe...

Blue or Red, this is a matter of taste. I can't really say which one I prefer.

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-07:42
But Blue and Red are my favourite colors, as per a coincidence... ;) I keep my fingers corssed to see more Extrem Lab stuff coming in the future. This is a very interesting line. Even if I deplore that some of the Lab Solutions didn't see an application, ...

I found the previous version highly tempting.

 By: MichaelC : March 4th, 2015-08:40
But I do think it looks better in blue than red. As you say, personal taste. I just find the blue more unique and befitting this model. My first thought was the striped bezel is also more congruent with the overall design, but reading your reaction to the...

From what I understood, not a limited edition, but...

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-08:47
I think it will be limited in production. The smooth bezel is a detail which immediately jumped into my eyes, when I saw the proto. I much prefer it like this, but as said, it is a matter of personal tastes. Thanks for your input, Michael. Best, Nicolas

300 pieces only.

 By: proestak : March 4th, 2015-09:15

Awesome piece

 By: vitalsigns : March 4th, 2015-10:32
Awesome piece with a cool set of complications. Very technical, embodying JLC's real engineering prowess. Probably has a ton of wrist presence, yet it doesn't strike me as ostentatious or too loud. Maybe less distinctive than Richard Mille, but a great va...

I could not compare it to a Hublot. ;) And it is, technically, for the price, much more

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-12:03
Interesting than a RM 10, in my opinion. Try it, you will see that it sits quite easily on the wrist, despite its size. Best, and thanks for your feedback, John. Nicolas

Tecno appeal.. But with great design.. & futuristic coolness !

 By: hs111 : March 4th, 2015-10:32
.. Was specially intrigued by the case, with two characters on front & back.. As to the color accents: blue underlining the cold appeal, whereas red has more signalling ability, and a tad better legibility, I guess. Thx for this excursion into a future, w...

Ahh I never noticed the smooth bezel in this blue variant

 By: AnthonyTsai : March 4th, 2015-14:14
For me, I actually like the non-smooth bezel because it's a better match with the overall design of the watch IMO. Cheers, Anthony

Yup you can't go wrong with either

 By: AnthonyTsai : March 4th, 2015-14:20
I wonder if JLC will release another colored variant in the future. If so, maybe yellow? That's my prediction for the next color should there ever be another. Cheers, Anthony

I rather think that it is time to work on the Extrem Lab III.

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-14:21
And would be very excited to see what they will show us! Best, Nicolas

Perhaps the III will have an annual calendar!

 By: BABKA : March 4th, 2015-17:50
That would be stupendous! I agree with the comparison to RM too. I wore my Lab II several times with a friend who owns the RM011 FM Singapore edition and, despite them both having a skeletonized dial and similar red/black color schemes, my JLC looks subst...

The RM 11 is a very cool watch, but way more expensive, and less technical than the JLC.

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-22:34
As for an annual calendar, plans may change, but I don't see JLC, today, or next year, introducing an annual calendar on their Watch. I am impatient to see what JL has in the tube, for us, as for the Extrem Lab III. Best, Nicolas

Celestial LAB III?

 By: cory : March 4th, 2015-23:36
Should have Celestial complications... real time! ;) That would be cool and techincal.

JLC have so much more

 By: cory : March 4th, 2015-23:38
advancements and R&D behind them since the very first LAB so III should be by far the best and most innovative... and smaller case!!! PLEASE.

Smaller than almost 47 mm? I think they can. But the Extrem Lab

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-23:46
Is not a small case... I cannot see an Extrem Lab III with a 40 mm case. Best, Nicolas

Celestial is too traditional for an Extrem Lab.

 By: amanico : March 4th, 2015-23:49
The name " Extrem Lab " excludes, per nature, Tradition. It is all about innovation. And if you go too technical on a celestial dial, you loose the romantism of the complication. There are better lines for a Celestial, at JLC. Best, Nicolas

I see your point about the 'Celestial' and

 By: cory : March 5th, 2015-00:08
I was just teasing referring to the Celestial theme that is evident among the many beautiful JLC pieces currently. I do seriously wonder what complication JLC will explore in the III though... Radial power reserve, GMT are already done... I want to see so...

The Compressor Case is an extrem case. But I would have nothing against a new case.

 By: amanico : March 5th, 2015-02:46
As for complications, let's say a friendly one. Here, the sky is the limit. ;) Best, Nicolas

Mechanical numeric display?

 By: cory : March 5th, 2015-09:38
.... for hours and minutes! - Large power reserve ;) Friendly in use, complex by nature.

JLC already released the jumping hour.

 By: amanico : March 5th, 2015-09:39
A digital hour and minutes display would be too Lange...JLC can do better. Best, Nicolas

JLC can do WAY better...

 By: cory : March 5th, 2015-09:46
You are right... it should be an exciting LAB III.

Exciting, friendly complications. That should be the way to go.

 By: amanico : March 5th, 2015-09:50
But I am not JLC, and sometimes, they are crazier than I am. ;) Best, Nicolas

Friendly & Crazy go together...

 By: cory : March 5th, 2015-09:59
I like 'Crazy' as long as it's friendly ;)

A 'Repeater' LAB Concept?

 By: cory : March 6th, 2015-18:03
For when we are in extreme black out conditions and need to know the time!? A minute repeater would certainly help... don't you think?

That will not help you... The price risks to be astronomic.

 By: amanico : March 6th, 2015-23:27
AND I don't see the consistance of a minute repeater in an extrem Watch... Minute Repeaters hate shocks. Best, Nicolas

All in good humour... I don't really expect a extreme MR...

 By: cory : March 6th, 2015-23:38
Would be handy in the snow storms and black outs though!

LOL. [nt]

The article above is not quite right - two versions for retail

 By: pantherXXL : March 5th, 2015-06:06
The article above is not quite right. There are two versions for retail by the old (red and gold) model. The color of the movement and the dial changed as well. Which precipitated a reference change. The movement is ruthenium instead of the black original...

Movement dial side? Sorry, but no change.

 By: amanico : March 5th, 2015-06:18
Look at this other picture. Taken on an Extrem Lab 2 produced in late 2012 early 2013: Now, that is true that some blackened movements existed. Best, Nicolas ...

203T570

 By: pantherXXL : March 5th, 2015-08:11
the model on your Picture is the 203T540 with ruthenium movement. the production change summer 2012. According JLC only a few watches were shipped with the black movement. here is a picture from the 203T570 with black movement. ...

Yes, different dials

 By: pantherXXL : March 5th, 2015-08:33
Here you can see the different Dials compared ...
