Horological Meandering: Awful news

This is terrible! I had the pleasure of meeting Horology75 on a few occasions and he always struck me as a kind, fun-loving man with superb taste in the finer things. It's tough news to take and I can only imagine how his family must be feeling... my sincere condolences to them and may he rest in pe

Bulgari: It's a mystery why they do this

Hi christianch, Thanks for putting these images up. Yes, they are the ones I saw as well and I think somewhere else as well, although your ones are directly from the Bvlgari website! I have this one too and, like you, I went in eyes wide open, as I examined the watch closely before taking it. I knew

Bulgari: Understood, but...

Hi Patrick, I agree, many brands out there do hollow out gold cases and bracelets. Some are more subtle than others. In Bvlgari's case, I guess there is an argument that they do this for weight and balance reasons, but the thing that annoys me is that certain marketing shots (even on their website)

Bulgari: Observation about the gold bracelet

I've noticed for a while now that some of the publicity shots of the gold OFs show the underside of the bracelet to be solid, while it is, in fact, hollowed out. You will see this from the two pictures above. I've always wondered why they do this, as it's misleading in my opinion and, frankly, a bit

Bulgari: Agree

Hi Patrick, yes, you're absolutely correct, the sandblasted titanium hides scratches very well. I have a sketch dial OF chronograph and after regular wear, I still can't see a single scuff or swirl on it (hope I didn't now jinx it!). Kind regards kkwn98

Bulgari: Congratulations!

That is one beautiful and extremely elegant watch you have there! Sporty and sophisticated. Bvlgari got the colour combination on this one just right. They also did a limited edition yellow gold version for the US market, but, curiously, with the same metallic chocolate brown dial. IMHO, that one wo

Piaget: Very nice!

A beautiful Piaget from another time. Did you end up acquiring it? I really do like the Piagets you have. I used to (and still do) love the early Polos and Dancers on bracelets. I remember when Piaget would proudly state in their adverts that their watches were always in precious metals, otherwise t

Breguet: Incredible set!

Many thanks for highlighting them here! What an amazing pair, from a bygone era. I remember these perpetuals which had the corrector on a chain like this and, like VinnyD, I also wonder how practical they were, not to mention you would have to accept you would end up with a very scratched lug! But t
