Cost of Personalisation?

May 12, 2011,15:48 PM

I am interested in purchasing a couple of his and her Reversos to mark my wedding next year. Does anyone know how much the personalisation will add to the cost of the watches? I never buy my watches with the intention to sell them, so that is not a concern to me. Would be grateful if anyone could advise. Thank you.

There might be an interesting solution. Here is the official release I received from the Manufacture: Reverso Capturing your magic moments In 2011, the year of the 80 th anniversary of the legendary swivel watch, Jaeger-LeCoultre has decided to increase R...

I was just speaking about engraving a potential watch The concept looks very cool. I can definitely see myself doing engravings in the future, a great way to commemorate special memories. Is this available through JLC boutiques?

I see it like the ultimate step in the personalisation of your watch, indeed.

To be done only if it is a keeper, for you, which seems to be the case. Yes, you can contact the JLC Boutique, I'm sure they will be very pleased to give you an hand. Best, Nicolas.

This is....

a very nice and welcome option. Good decision indeed! Filip

If the watch is travelling through the generations of a same family,

it may be even more than an option... A nice and perpetual reminder of the original owner. Best, Nicolas.

I believe that this service is...

...also available at select ADs. I will certainly ask when I'm called to the AD to see the USA edition of the Tribute to Reverso '31. That watch has all the attributes of a real keeper! N

That's a helpful service..

Thanks Nico, for keeping us aware of such services. As for me, I wonder what they can do to a Sun Moon. As much as I would have loved a personalised enamel for the two SMs I have for my sons. And to get an enamel anyware except at the back of the watch, w...

This kind of option can be considered ONLY on solid case backs, Edward.

 By: amanico : May 9th, 2011-21:13
Then, if you want an enamel, you would have to consider: 1/ A Reverso with an enamel dial, like the latest one. 2/ A Reverso with a solid case back, like the TT 1931 or any other " simple " one. Excellent idea, my friend. Best, Nicolas.

I know Nico..

 By: EdwardL : May 9th, 2011-21:32
Sorry what I meant by watch back was caseback. This is the only time I wish my SM had a solid caseback. And thanks for the temptations. (Vlad) Just pray a nice vintage passes by. Best my friend. Ed

Sorry, I didn't understand that ...

 By: amanico : May 9th, 2011-21:35
AFAIK, it is not possible for two reasons: 1/ You delete all the ref numberso f the watch. It will be impossible to identify it. 2/ More important: If you put an " enameled decorum " on the back of the carriage, you directly expose it to your skin, then y...

Or maybe...

 By: EdwardL : May 10th, 2011-00:03
You are right about damaging the enamel if it was under the carriage. I was thinking if it is possible to have a small engraving of the kid's chinese zodiac sign. One dog and the other a pig. That's a wish I don't think the AD in Calcutta could help me wi...

More infos to come tomorrow.

I just received an email from my contact at JLC with some interesting informations. As soon as I translate the text, I will post it ... Best, Nicolas.

Actually discussed this with..

Jim and Seth at BHB as wife was thinking about engraving her name on the back of the TT1931US... Seth then brought up enameling as well. WoW, we were moved. The only downside is the amount of time the new piece will be away from us.

Yes, depending on the work you ask, it may take some time.

 By: amanico : May 9th, 2011-21:44
BUT isn't it worth it? I think I know why you want this TT 1931 to be personalized, and I have to agree with your reasons. It is noe fo the best reasons in the word, then it is worth some " time sacrifices ", don't you think? If I got you well, you don't ...

I was playing with the Reverso personalization last nite - the possibilities are endless. Would be really interested to see some real-life examples. Anyone personalized their Reverso? Do post and share them.

Till now, I don't think a vast ajority of People did so.

 By: amanico : May 9th, 2011-21:51
And I don't think a majority of people will do so. The first and most important condition, IMO, is that the watch is a keeper, I mean that you won't sell it: A personalisation is important for you, for the members of your family, rarely for others. But, i...

If people purchase watches with intend to sell

 By: foowy : May 10th, 2011-01:53
then I most definitely agree with you, we won't see many people personalizing their Reverso. If I do get it however, I do intend to keep it within the family and wish I would never have to face a situation of selling it. It would also be interesting for J...

always look forward to your postings and updates. I just contacted my AD and I am very happy with the price for the TT, below my expectation which is always good. The final will be the WRIST TEST Master Chrono vs Reverso TT......but I think where my heart...

Enameling can only be done on gold...

 By: craniotes : May 10th, 2011-14:43
...and even then, it has to be of a certain thickness, since the case back needs to be "dug out" if you will, to create a bas relief to contain the enamel. Apparently steel is too hard for this process, though it can be lacquered instead. Regards, Adam

I already have the design picked out for my TTR US...

 By: craniotes : May 10th, 2011-09:31
Now I have to call Seth and find out how much longer it will take to put the watch on my wrist if I choose to have the engraving/enameling done before I take delivery. Regards, Adam

Of course I will, Nico!

 By: craniotes : May 11th, 2011-08:48
But first I need to get my watch! ;-) Regards, Adam

Better in this order. :) [nt]

It will all depend on the level of complexity of the personalisation.

Ask to your JLC AD or Boutique, they will be happy to tell you precisely. Very nice idea, by the way! My best wishes to you and her. Nicolas.
