not sure why it narrowly missed the mark for me.
love the PT version. not so hot with the crosshairs.
manual wind would have been preferred as the others have stated but to my not so discerning sensibilities, an auto is ok and understandable... but did i already say that i prefer manual? ;-)
lastly, i would have preferred the PT version to have been available in SS.
maybe not as well-played as the other tributes? TT65, 68, 1931 come to mind and remember how people unanimously loved 'em.
as to the size, a very difficult aesthetic decision. i think the proportions of the PT version dial layout worked really well for the vintage. but stretching it to 38.5... i think it was a good decision to have pushed it to this limit. on the wrist though, i can see it lose a bit of elegance vis-a-vis the vintage. but it is a tightrope of a walk.
plexi... yes, plexi... i love plexi... should've been plexi on this one.
to summarize my feelings on this one, of all the tributes i really wished this was the one that didn't miss the mark (and, yes, as the others have echoed, even if only to a few... which i doubt).
enjoyed the article, Nico. superb as always.
